The Formula 1 Portuguese Grand Prix is coming back to Autódromo Internacional do Algarve (Portimão) in 2027 and 2028. The deal was signed in December 2025 – a two-year agreement between Formula 1, the Portuguese government, Turismo de Portugal, and promoter Parkalgar. It’s not the circuit’s first F1 weekend either: the same 4.6 km “rollercoaster” layout hosted F1 in 2020 and 2021, Lewis Hamilton won both rounds, and then the race dropped off the calendar until now.
When the race weekend lands, the Portimão / Lagoa / Praia da Rocha corridor flips into grandstand mode: park-and-ride traffic, hillside viewing walks, and hotels that sell out early. It’s not a casual beach add-on. Treat tickets and beds as the first bookings, then decide whether the rest of the week is Rocha beach or a quieter west-coast escape for anyone who doesn’t care about qualifying.
