Gran Plaza Tavira

Tavira

Gran Plaza Tavira review — 50+ shops, Continente hypermarket, NOS cinema, and Ria views at Tavira Plaza on the west bank of the Gilão.

Our verdict

Gran Plaza is the east coast's practical mall — stock the villa, catch a VOSE film, and save old-town Tavira for evenings without pretending the hypermarket is in the Roman bridge loop.

Visit Gran Plaza Tavira

Gran Plaza (also marketed as Tavira Plaza) at Rua Almirante Cândido dos Reis 247 (8800-318 Tavira) is eastern Algarve’s main covered shopping centre50+ shops, Continente hypermarket (lower level with fresh counters and wine aisle), Worten, Sport Zone, fashion chains (C&A, Mango, Marypaz, Parfois), Loja do Cidadão, pharmacy, NOS cinema (~4 screens), food court, and children’s play areas. Sits on the west bank of Tavira with terrace views toward the Ria Formosa — not inside the pedestrian bridge old town.

Who it suits

Yes for Tavira, Cabanas, and Conceição villa weeks needing supermarket scale, school shoes, or a rainy afternoon cinema. Olhão and Faro guests use it when Ria Shopping or Forum are farther for their route. VRSA and Castro Marim have no equivalent — plan 25–35 minutes by car. Less ideal as a heritage day — pair with the bridge and market separately.

Practical tips

Free underground parking. Continente often 08:00–22:00. Confirm cinema and shop hours on mall channels — site granplaza.pt when live. Hub: shopping in the Algarve, top things to do in Tavira, birdwatching itinerary (day-three Castro Marim pairs well).

Worth it?

Yes for east-coast practical shopping. No if you expected a Lagos-scale Primark hunt — drive to MAR or Forum for that.
