Ria Shopping at Av. D. João VI (8700-137 Olhão) is the lagoon town’s centro comercial — ~50 shops over three floors (~16,500 m² ABL), Auchan hypermarket, Fitness UP gym, pharmacy, Clínica Internacional de Olhão, fashion and home chains (Pepco, JYSK, Douglas, MultiOpticas), and underground parking (~400+ spaces). Opened 2009; Sonae Sierra assumed management July 2024 with refurbishment focus on dining and services. Upper levels include a B&B hotel — the mall reads as mixed-use, not only retail.
Who it suits
Yes for Olhão waterfront and island-ferry weeks needing a walkable or short-taxi supermarket, gym, or rainy-hour browse. ~15 minutes on foot from the historic market quarter. Faro and Tavira visitors rarely detour unless staying east. Less ideal for outlet or Primark missions — Forum or MAR win on scale.
Practical tips
Pair with Yuppi Kids Park (Belamandil) for family rain combos. Olhão’s real shopping culture remains the waterfront market — do both, not instead. Site: riashopping.pt. Guides: top things to do in Olhão, shopping in the Algarve.
Worth it?
Yes as Olhão’s local mall. Upgrade to Gran Plaza if you are Tavira-based and want Continente scale plus cinema in one larger centre.
