Michelin star restaurants in the Algarve

All seven Michelin-starred Algarve restaurants for 2026 - Ocean, Vila Joya, and five one-star tables, with reviews and FAO drive times.

The Michelin Guide Portugal 2026 lists seven starred restaurants in the Algarve – two with two stars, five with one. This page covers only those seven, not every “fine dining” pin on Google Maps and not every Recommended venue in the wider guide. Star counts change each spring; confirm your dates on guide.michelin.com before you pay deposits.

Two Michelin stars – the headline nights

[Ocean](https://algarvetravel.info/restaurants/ocean/) – Porches

Chef Hans Neuner runs Ocean at Vila Vita Parc – Atlantic views, creative tasting menus, and a dining room above the Porches cliffs. This is the big two-star night on the central coast; book when you lock resort dates, not the week you arrive.

[Gastro & Wine at Vila Joya](https://algarvetravel.info/restaurants/gastro-wine-vila-joya/) – Galé

Dieter Koschina’s two-star room at Vila Joya is one of Portugal’s longest-held fine-dining addresses – intimate hotel scale, cliff terrace, seasonal tasting menus. Pairs with a Falésia / Galé stay rather than Old Town bar nights.

One Michelin star – five distinct styles

Restaurant Style in one line Base to sleep
Gusto Heinz Beck Mediterranean-Italian at Conrad Vilamoura / Quinta do Lago
Bon Bon Modern Portuguese, sea and Barrocal Carvoeiro / Lagoa
Vista Seasonal Atlantic plates at Bela Vista Portimão / Praia da Rocha
A Ver Tavira Gilão-view tasting menus Tavira / Cabanas
Alameda New 2026 star – lagoon seafood in Faro Faro city / airport area

Drive times from Faro Airport (FAO)

Rough off-peak car times – add buffer for summer Saturday arrivals:

Drive from airport FAO drive
Faro (Alameda) 15–25 min
Porches (Ocean) 45–55 min
Galé (Vila Joya) 35–45 min
Almancil (Gusto) 25–35 min
Carvoeiro (Bon Bon) 40–50 min
Portimão (Vista) 50–65 min
Tavira (A Ver Tavira) 35–45 min

Pre-book transfers if you are dining the arrival night; taxi queues at FAO spike on peak charter days.

How to plan one or two star meals on a week

  1. Choose your one big night – Ocean or Vila Joya for a two-star week; Gusto or Bon Bon for golf-coast; Alameda if you are city-breaking in Faro.
  1. Reserve before non-refundable hotels – starred tables sell out before standard rooms in July–August.
  1. Dress code – smart resort evening wear; not beach shorts.
  1. Mix budgets – one star night, then grill or village lunch – see town guides: Albufeira, Lagoa, Faro, Tavira.
  1. Second-tier fine dining – venues in the Guide without stars (Al Quimia, Willie’s, Authentic, etc.) are covered in our Michelin Recommended Algarve companion page.

Hotels that pair naturally

  • Bela Vista – Vista (see our Vista review for the hotel link pattern).

Town planning: where to stay in Lagoa, Faro, Tavira, FAO hub.

FAQ

How many Michelin stars does the Algarve have in 2026? Seven restaurants hold stars (two at 2★, five at 1★) per the Michelin Guide Portugal 2026 regional coverage.

Why does Google show “10 Michelin restaurants”? Local packs mix stars, Recommended listings, ex-star venues, and €50+ fine dining – use this page for stars only.

Is Noélia & Jerónimo starred? The Tavira-area star in the 2026 guide is A Ver Tavira. Noélia remains a strong fine-dining room – see our Noélia review – but not in the 2026 star list.

Is Elementos in Faro starred? No – Elementos is a separate fine-dining pick; the new Faro star is Alameda.

Next: Pick your one starred night, reserve it before you lock a non-refundable room, then read the town guide that matches it – Lagoa, Faro, or Tavira – and the Michelin Recommended list for a softer second night.
