Birds Nest is a small, family-run dining room in Tenoca, a tiny lane-hamlet next to Boliqueime in Loulé municipality. It sits roughly midway between Vilamoura, Almancil, and the inland Barrocal hills, so it’s easy to miss and worth the hunt. The booking page promises Mediterranean and Portuguese cooking, with strong salads and pasta, fresh bread, and a rear garden terrace that’s a world away from the marina seafront walk.
A couple of practical things. The official site (birdsnest.eatbu.com) lists Monday and Tuesday closed, Wednesday to Friday dinner around 19:00-22:30, and Sunday lunch around 12:00-15:30. Double-check that Monday and Tuesday closure before you drive out. The site says no booking is needed, but for a group of eight or more, phone ahead on +351 289 366 471.
This is the room for couples and small groups who want a dinner you can actually talk through, with no nightclub bass next door. Vegan and vegetarian diners are properly looked after here: the site treats those dishes as a real part of the menu, not a token add-on. It’s a lovely night off the resort buffet if you’re in a villa around Boliqueime, Almancil, or Vilamoura. Skip it if you need coach parking or you’re after formal tasting-menu theatre.
Piri-piri night same village: Palácio Piri-piri on Rua do Pavilhão. Marina alternative with dedicated vegan menu: Fat Cats on the Marina in Albufeira. Worth it? Yes for a quiet, generous dinner away from the crowds. More nearby in best restaurants in Loulé and Loulé town.
