Karting Almancil Fun Park

Loulé

Karting Almancil Fun Park - Senna kartódromo, junior circuits, buggies, and how it fits a Vilamoura-Quinta do Lago week.

Our verdict

Karting Almancil is the Algarve's best dedicated fun-kart day for mixed ages - serious enough for teens on 200cc-400cc laps, gentle enough for toddlers on the baby circuit. Book online for summer slots; do not confuse it with the Autódromo race track in Portimão.

Karting Almancil Fun Park (Kartódromo de Almancil, also Karting Algarve) sits inland from Almancil, between Quinta do Lago and the A22, a purpose-built leisure kart centre that’s been running since the early 1990s. The headline circuit was opened with Ayrton Senna and is styled on Brazil’s old Jacarepaguá F1 layout. Alongside it you get separate junior and baby loops, plus optional buggy tours into the hills. One site genuinely splits across every age in the group.

Who should go

Teens and adults who want real kart speed without buying a Portimão Grand Prix ticket. Families splitting by age – baby electric cars from about three, junior 120cc from about six, two-seat karts for an adult plus a very young passenger. Groups and birthdays. Holiday villas near Almancil, Vilamoura, or Quarteira – a 15-25 minute drive.

Skip if you expect Formula 1 paddock access (that is Autódromo Internacional do Algarve), or if anyone cannot tolerate engine noise. Krazy World offers lighter karting with animals – choose Almancil when karting is the main event.

What to expect

Main circuit – adult-oriented laps on the Senna-linked track; sessions are organised in timed heats with briefing and kit hire. Junior circuit – fenced loop for roughly six- to twelve-year-olds on 120cc karts, plus two-seaters for one adult and a child under six. Baby circuit – electric cars for roughly three- to six-year-olds. Go Buggy / ATV – off-road routes; drivers need a valid Category B licence, passengers from about seven.

Practical tips

Buy kart sessions online when the site offers it – summer weekends fill the main circuit first. Arrive early for briefing – closed shoes and tied hair are standard. Split the group by circuit so adults and juniors rotate without bored waiting. GPS 37.092616, -8.048040, postcode 8135-022 Almancil. Phone (+351) 289 399 899 for groups of ten-plus.

Worth it?

Yes when someone in your group wants real karting without turning the holiday into a motorsport pilgrimage – especially if you are already sleeping near Almancil or Vilamoura. Skip if you only have one free afternoon and younger children need water slides – try Aquashow Park or Aqualand instead.
