The official name here is Quinta do Mar da Luz (you’ll also see it written as Quinta del Mar da Luz, which is how it’s still listed in a few places online, ours included). Either way, it’s the same cliff-top Country & Sea Village above the west Algarve coast near Praia da Luz. Official
The setup is a mix of hotel rooms, studios and apartments with kitchenettes, spread across gardens with three outdoor pools and a gate onto the coastal fishermen’s trail. You can be on a cliff path toward Burgau in ten minutes, or just as happily never leave the pool loungers.
What it isn’t: a village-square hotel where dinner is a two-minute stroll. Luz and Burgau are close but not walk-in close, so the property leans on bike, car or scooter hire to get you moving.
Who fits
Families who want a kitchen for the nights nobody wants a restaurant, couples chasing west-coast quiet over Lagos volume, and walkers who like having cliff paths on the doorstep.
Skip it if Lagos marina nightlife on foot is the plan. You’ll want a car or taxi for town evenings from here.
Compared with
Salema Beach Hotel for a smaller beach-village base further west. Cascade Wellness Resort for spa-led Lagos luxury. See where to stay in Lagos for the wider area.
Worth it?
Yes, for a cliff-and-pool west-coast week with the flexibility of an apartment. Confirm whether you’re booking a room, studio or T1/T2 before you lock a non-refundable rate, then compare it with where to stay in Lagos if you’re still choosing between areas.
