Aparthotel Alfagar is the smaller, more compact resort in the Alfagar Aparthotels & Resorts group, set in clifftop gardens between Albufeira and Olhos de Água.(shared across the Alfagar group). It’s a 4-star apartment hotel with 159 apartments – same cliff position and family focus as its siblings, just on a more manageable footprint.

The children’s waterpark area is the standout extra here, alongside a heated indoor pool for days when the Atlantic wind picks up. Check-in is from 16:00, check-out by 11:00. Balaia Golf Course is about 1 km away, and the resort sits close enough to the wider Alfagar cluster that guests can often use facilities across the group.

Who fits

Families with younger kids who want a waterpark area on site without the scale of Alto da Colina. Couples and smaller families who prefer a more manageable, 159-apartment resort over the 200-plus units at Alfagar Village. Anyone who wants the Alfagar clifftop format on a shorter or more relaxed booking.

Not the pick if you want the biggest sports and pool line-up in the group – that’s Alto da Colina – or the largest clifftop gardens, which is Alfagar Village.

Apartments, waterpark, and the daily rhythm

Facilities include a wide selection of swimming pools, a heated indoor pool, a children’s waterpark area, a playground, babysitting on request, and sports facilities including a gym, tennis courts, and a football pitch. It’s a smaller footprint than the group’s flagship resorts, which suits guests who want family facilities without the size of a full resort village. As with the rest of the Alfagar group, ask at check-in what wider resort facilities your booking includes.

Location and getting around

You’re set between Albufeira and Olhos de Água, within the same clifftop gardens that link to Alfagar Village, and Balaia Golf Course is about 1 km away. Faro Airport is roughly 34 km out – see transfers or car hire for the journey. Old Town evenings mean a short drive or taxi rather than a walk.

Compared with the other Alfagar resorts

Alfagar Village for the biggest, original clifftop-garden resort. Alfagar Alto da Colina for a bigger water-slide and sports offer nearer Balaia and Santa Eulália. Alfagar Prestige for the newest, most refined build in the group. All four share the Alfagar name and clifftop setting, so confirm which one you’re booking.

Worth it?

A good fit for a compact, waterpark-equipped family stay between Albufeira and Olhos de Água, without booking the biggest resort in the group. Compare it against Alto da Colina if your kids are older and want more sports facilities on site.
