Restaurant review

Umami

Umami is Quinta do Lago's robata grill and Asian cocktail restaurant at RESERVA by the lake, with sushi, sashimi, and sunset views over the Ria Formosa.

Our verdict

Book Umami for a Quinta Asian night - wood-fired robata, sushi, and sake cocktails beside the water, Tuesday to Saturday only.

Website / reservations

Umami is tucked inside RESERVA at Quinta do Lago, right on the lake with the Ria Formosa spreading out beyond it. This is the resort’s Asian dining room: robatayaki fish, meat, and vegetables grilled slowly over natural Marabú wood, plus sushi, sashimi, and sake-based cocktails. It’s boutique, not buffet Asian – a small room, evening-only service, and a sunset view over the water that does most of the work.

Open Tuesday to Saturday, 18:30-23:30 (kitchen closes at 22:30), with a sushi and sashimi takeaway window on the same nights if you’d rather eat back at the villa – pre-order windows are listed on the Quinta site. Book it if you want a refined Asian night without leaving the Golden Triangle. Give it a miss if you need Sunday dinner, a kids’ pasta menu, or something more casual than a set evening service.

Compare a Portuguese sharing night at Casa Velha, or lake-casual at The Shack. Stay context: where to stay in Loulé.
